3 ways to start working out

Being physically fit is the first step to living a healthy and happy life. It helps you develop strong muscles, improve your posture, and look good in clothes! Unfortunately, most of us make excuses for not working out. We think that it’s too expensive or time consuming. In reality, there are plenty of exercises that you can do to get fit without stepping a foot into a gym. So if you’ve been considering starting to work out, here are three simple ways that you can start today:

1) Fitness Tracker

The FitBit was designed to be an easy way to get motivated to work out. It tracks your steps taken, distance traveled, and calories burned throughout the day. Once you reach a fitness goal (such as 10,000 steps) it gives you positive reinforcement to keep going! The FitBit is an easy way to track your daily activity and provides some friendly competition for those around you. If you’re the type of person that needs some added motivation to get moving, a fitness tracker may be the key to getting started today!

2) Change up your workout

If you’ve been working out the same way for years, it’s important to find a new format that keeps things interesting. If you usually work out at home, try going to the gym! Likewise, if you’re used to walking on a treadmill at the gym, go ahead and give spinning a shot! It’s normal to get bored of working out, but by trying a new format you can add some variety to your exercise habits. For example, if you usually go for a walk on your lunch break, try walking at night with friends!

3) Set a fitness goal and partner up

Setting goals is one of the most important parts of starting an exercise routine. Understanding what you want to accomplish will drive you to keep going when it gets tough. Try setting a goal that is measurable, such as “walk 2 miles in 30 minutes.” Having a partner help you reach your goal is an excellent way to stay motivated and accountable. After all, no one wants to look like a slacker in front of their friends! When you set a goal with someone, you’re more likely to work hard and achieve success.
