This is a basic sourdough bread recipe.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 large eggs 4 cups all purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly, plus more for greasing the bowl
3/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl combine the yeast, eggs, flour, and salt. Pour in the milk and melted butter and stir to make a soft dough. Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature for about 2 hours until it gets puffy.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) Grease a 9X5 inch loaf pan, or a cast iron skillet. Lightly sprinkle the dough with flour and transfer to the prepared loaf pan (or skillet). Cover again with a kitchen towel and let rise until double in size, about 1 hour.
Brush the top of the bread with more melted butter for an extra crisp crust.
Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes before slicing.
